Well, Homer and Cristina flew out to San Fransisco today. It was great having them here and wonderful to have everyone who came along to the workshops, practicas, concepts and milongas. We had a great time sharing this event with you and hope you got a lot from their visit. In the future we hope to get them out to Australia again to further explore our tango. Final workshop and practica

Tonight was the final workshop and practica being offered by Homer and Cristina. We had a great time learning about D'Arienzo. Later we danced while Homer DJ'd a fascinating set of traditional and alternative tracks. We had a great time and would like to thank everyone who came to the workshops, practicas, concepts and milongas over the past two weeks.

Sunday Concepts

Just got back from our final Sunday Concept on colgadas with Homer and Cristina. It was a fantastic and vigorous four hours of intensive tango training. Much was learned by everyone who came. This evening we're off to a free DJ workshop being offered by Homer. We're all tired, but too much tango is never enough.

Milonga

Just got back from the TangoSpace milonga where Homer and Cristina dazzled us once again with their performance. It was a great night with heaps of people joining in the farewell for Homer and Cristina despite a full day of workshops exploring close to open embrace transitions, developing and releasing torsion, and volcadas. We thank everyone who attended workshops and then showed up to the milonga to make it a success. We also thank everyone who helped us set-up the venue, organise food, and pack up at the conclusion of the evening. Can't tell you how much it meant to us.

Day Three

Yesterday we had a fantastic workshop at TangoSpace on Di Sarli music and phrasing. It was great fun with lots of new insights into dancing to traditional tango music and the complexities of Carlos Di Sarli. We also got to meet Wendy who came all the way from New Zealand/Aotearoa to dance with us. Now we look forward to the next lot of workshops this weekend and the farewell milonga on Saturday night.

Day Two

Today we had four hours of intensive training with the first of the Sunday Concepts on Advanced Turns and Sacadas. It was a great day with heaps of useful information for the diverse group of tango dancers at TangoSpace. The concept format is a fascinating and productive method for exploring tango. We are all now looking forward to next Sunday and colgadas.

Today we had three workshops with Homer and Cristina - Tango Games, Milonga and Valz. It was a great turn-out with lots of wonderful tango concepts explored. Everyone enjoyed Homer and Cristina's approachable, relaxed style of teaching. Tomorrow we begin the first of our Sunday Concept series. But first, tonight we dance, 9:00pm - 2:00am at 296 Churchill Ave. It promises to be a great night.

Two Weeks Notice

There's just under two weeks until Homer and Cristina arrive. All is going well. But we thought we would update you on the changes that have unfolded in the last month just to clarify events for you. Saturday workshops are now going to be held at 296 Churchill Ave Subiaco and not at the Bedford Hall and P & C Hall at Como as previously planned. The two Wednesday musicality workshops and Sunday Concepts will still be held at TangoSpace on The Strand in Applecross. We are now having two milongas. A welcome milonga will be held at 296 Churchill Ave, Subiaco on the 7th November 2009, 9:00pm - 2:00am and a farewell milonga at The Strand in Applecross on the 14th November 2009, 7:00pm - 10:00pm. Both milongas will feature performances by Homer and Cristina and will cost $25. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at some or all of these events. Important Changes!

Well, everything was running a bit too smoothly and we needed something to go wrong - and it did. Due to unforeseen circumstances, two of our three venues are no longer going to be available. Bugger. So we have been fortunate that the Juan Rando Dance Academy has generously allowed us to hire their studio for the two Saturdays of workshops. So, what this means is that Workshops 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 will be held at 296 Churchill Ave Subiaco. Workshops 4 and 8 will still be held at Applecross. All Concepts will be held at Applecross. This event is still being run and organised by TangoSpace. However, in light of these changes we have decided to have an official welcome to Homer and Cristina at the first Saturday milonga at Churchill Avenue on the 7th of November, as well as a farewell milonga at TangoSpace the following week the 14th of November 2009. If you have inquiries about these changes please contact us directly at tangospace@westnet.com.au. Thank you for your patience.

Sunday Concepts Full

The Sunday Concepts are now fully booked. If you are still keen to come you can register your interest and we will put you on the reserve list in case someone decides to drop out between now and November. We thank everyone for their enthusiasm and inquiries. It's going to be a great way to explore tango. We look forward to seeing you there. There's also heaps of workshops to choose from. There are no limits on numbers (within reason) and you do not have to book as a couple. So check out the workshop timetable to get your fill of Homer and Cristina while they are here.

Concepts Update

The Sunday Concepts are almost fully booked with only one space (for one couple) left on the first Sunday (advanced turns) and two spaces (for two couples) left on the second Sunday (colgadas). You'll need to get in quick before they are snapped up. The response has been really positive and we thank everyone for their inquiries. Remember that there is no need to book as a couple for workshops. We will endeavour to normalise the numbers so everyone is partnered. Looking forward to hearing from you.

As part of Homer and Cristina's visit to Perth we are offering two very special events on Sunday the 8th and 15th of November. These days have been reserved for the presentation of Sunday Concepts. These sessions are not workshops but are instead four-hour intensive training seminars devoted to exploring one tango idea from basic to complex formations.

These sessions will run in two-hour blocks with an hour for lunch between blocks. Lunch and refreshments will be supplied. Spaces are limited with only twenty individuals eligible (10 couples). If you wish to come you must contact Antonio directly on 0416 767525 and you must book as a couple.

The concepts we have chosen are Advanced Turns and Sacadas, and Colgadas. Below is the full programme and details of booking conditions.

August Up-Date

Homer and Cristina are currently touring in Europe. So we are catching them to confer about workshop topics, performances and other details in between their hectic schedule. We are also in the process of locking down our venues for this event and have one more space to slot into the programme. Once this is done we'll be able to finalise the workshop schedule. We are being very careful to think about different levels and interests. So it's shaping up to be quite a dynamic two weeks of tango.
